Plugins
In order to embed additional, mostly dynamic, features to a web page it is common practice to use components being called plugins. These plugins require additional software installation on the local computer and probably expect extended
connectivity.
Since it is the philosophy of Cross-Desktop to be available on many plattforms regardless of place and time. It is crucial to Cross-Desktop to remain as simple as possible from a technology point of view. Therefore, Cross-Desktop is kept plugin-free.
Although, plugins allow to realize
dynamic features, at the development of Cross-Desktop we did not miss plugins at all. Even for future development, we have no plans to consider plugins.
Like plugins, any additionally installed software components always possess potential security wholes. Especially, if these components access system resources of the local computer.
